AMADA LAUNCHES ALL-ELECTRIC PRESS BRAKE EGB-e

AMADA introduces the EGB-e series, a fully electric, intelligent, functional, and high-performance bending machine that aims to revolutionise manual bending, ensuring that is the easiest machine to operate on the market.
Evolving upon the market-leading automated tool changer employed by the HG-ATC and HRB-ATC, the EBG-ATCe is assured to be extremely productive with high part output even with less experienced operators.
The EGB-ATCe is packed with the highest technology to aid operators, ensure accuracy, and protect the environment.  This includes a brand-new servo drive and electric crowning system, a new triple backgauge with AR technology, for the first time, voice control, and an evolution of AMADA bending indicator technology.

The EGB-e series by AMADA responds to the market's demand for an innovative machine, highly productive, yet extremely easy to use. This is to mitigate the problem faced by many factories, which are currently forced to find and retain skilled bending operators.

The new AMNC 4ie numerical control centralises and integrates the management of all the new solutions to achieve high productivity and the highest performance available on the market. Additionally, services such as tablet HMI, augmented reality for part positioning, voice commands, a new bending indicator for automatic adjustment of the bending angle, and fully automatic offline programming are all extremely integrated, drastically reducing the unproductive times, and supporting the operator who as just to manipulate the part to bend.

With over twenty years of experience in developing servo-electric drives, AMADA offers a new solution that provides the highest speed and dynamics on the market, for both the upper beam and backgauge.

To ensure the machine is easy to operate for those with less experience, it is crucial to automate all possible processes and simplify any manual ones.
For that reason, AMADA developed the offline programming suite VPSS 4ie BEND, to automatically create the bending program, based on the correct unfold part, letting the operator process it without the need for any manual adjustment, which is autonomously managed by the machine itself through the new and faster bending indicator Bi-SII. The bending indicator takes care to compensate for the position of the upper and lower beams, achieving great bending linearity.

The resulting angle is displayed on the tablet HMI, which is always positioned in front of the operator, enabling them to immediately confirm the accuracy of the part without wasting time with the manual inspection.

The crowning system is fully electric and dynamic, with asymmetric management.
This means that different corrections can be applied to the left and right sides of the lower beam, allowing the parallelism of the beams to be maintained even when bending in an offset position, regardless of the ratio between the vee size and material thickness.

The tooling phase is another crucial process that significantly affects the machine's overall productivity. In 2006, AMADA reinvented bending becoming the first company to automate the tooling process with ATC on HDS-1030 for Astro II 100 Cell.
Since then, AMADA has released the HD-ATC in 2012, HG-ATC in 2015, and HRB-ATC, capable of changing the AMADA tool’s style, in 2021, with global success.
The ATC has also been developed to respond to market requests managing small batches and rush jobs quickly and easily, and different types of shopfloor planning such as assembly batching. With these conditions, the ATC grants double output, no tooling damage, and a better work environment.
The ATC of the EGB-e series has been redesigned, with a 30% increase in capacity and a maximum Vee size of 50mm instead of 40mm. These improvements have been made while reducing the footprint to optimise shop floor space.

AMADA's EGB-e features a new back gauge with three independent narrow fingers. This allows for quick and stable positioning of parts, even those with complex shapes, using both the front and lateral supports.
The measurement phase is monitored by an augmented reality camera that displays the final position of the part on the tablet HMI, superimposed on the real-time view of the actual part.

The Tablet HMI is a motorised device that displays all the information required by the operator, including the final bending angle, gauging position, and cautions about part manipulation for inexperienced bending operators. This ensures that quality control is efficient and unproductive time is avoided.

Environmental impact is a crucial concern for our customers. Therefore, AMADA has developed innovative solutions that reduce consumption and pollutants while increasing productivity.
The new AMNC 4ie numerical control system monitors the operator's presence and automatically turns off the screen, the servo drives, and LED lights if the operator is absent for an extended period.

An additional option is the SF75 sheet follower, which comes with one or two arms depending on the size and weight of the parts. This helps support the operator's activities and enhances safety.

The EGB-1303ATCe will be debuted in European showrooms in April 2024. Follow your local Amada sales company to stay up to date with product launch events.
